Attending Your First Meeting
We're so excited to have you! Our Beginners Meetings take place during the first half of our Monday meetings, 5-6pm, and the lessons build on each other as we progress through the quarter. Find more information about the format of our club meetings here!
What to Expect
1. Voices off! All of our meetings are full ASL immersion spaces. If you don't feel comfortable relying on sign language alone to communicate, bring a pen & paper or be ready to use the notes app on your phone!
2. Partner work. Try to bring a friend who's willing to learn ASL or pair up with someone to practice during the lesson. After each Beginners Meeting, we have an ASL Social Hour where we encourage you to chat with others and use what you learned!
How to Prepare
1. Try to learn to alphabet. We linked a great video below to get you started.
3. Have a willingness to learn. Let's make this a fun environment for everyone.
4. Participate as much as you can! It's the best way to learn a language.
5. Think about why you are interested in ASL, or what made you come to this meeting.
