Outside of club meetings, we encourage members to attend events, learn more about Deaf culture, and use sign language in new settings. Below you can find events & outings hosted by our ASL Club, but also throughout the Seattle area. Bring a friend, meet new people, and get involved in the community!

An event for d/Deaf, hard-of-hearing, CODAs, and SODAs to meet up and chat using ASL. If you identify as any of these, we recommend stopping by to grab some boba and meet new, likeminded people from the UW Community!

Come hang out with other ASL users, and get a chance to practice & sign together! Signers of all different skill levels and backgrounds welcome, but this will be a voices off event, so bring a phone or pad of paper and pencil to help communicate if you’re worried about getting stuck.

True biz? The students at the River Valley School for the Deaf just want to hook up, pass their history finals, and have politicians, doctors, and their parents stop telling them what to do with their bodies. This revelatory novel plunges readers into the halls of a residential school for the deaf, where they’ll meet Charlie, a rebellious transfer student who’s never met another deaf person before; Austin, the school’s golden boy, whose world is rocked when his baby sister is born hearing; and February, the headmistress, who is fighting to keep her school open and her marriage intact, but might not be able to do both. As a series of crises both personal and political threaten to unravel each of them, Charlie, Austin, and February find their lives inextricable from one another—and changed forever.

Welcome to the Cursed Forest, a Family-friendly Halloween Party!!
Play spooky-fun games for all ages, and grab some yummy treats to keep you going as you find your way through the cursed forest. Dress as whoever, or whatever, you'd love to meet in the cursed woods. A ghostly wanderer? A forest witch? A creature that's never been named? The scarier or funnier, the better!
