Ever since getting involved with ASL club last year, I have found it rewarding to find my Deaf identity and hope to grow my community and connect with others.

My name is Anabel Blankenship and I am entering my fourth year at UW, studying business and industrial design. I am a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) and therefore I have been involved in the Deaf community throughout my life. I am overjoyed to be working alongside Ethan as co-president this year, striving to grow the club and to make the club more accessible, expanding the presence fo the Deaf community and culture on campus. Not to mention, further educate people on ASL and Deaf culture.

I am super excited to be an officer again this year! Last year I ahd a lot of fun getting closer to those in ASL club and continuing to grow my skills in ASL. ASL club helps me stay close to the Deaf community and allows me to have a fun space to practice! This club is amazing and I can't wait to meet all the new members.

I love all of the events that ASL club hosts and the opportunity each meeting provides to connect and sign with others!! I’m super excited to start as VP this year, and to continue learning and meeting new people!

Sara
Club Officer She/her
I'm a CODA and I grew up attending Deaf expos, gatherings, and raised with Deaf friends throughout my childhood. As I grew older I realized I hada lot to learn in terms of grammar, word structure, and signs. I'm super passionate about teaching as much ASL as I can to my close friends and family. I'd like to see the ASL club thrive and I'm happy to help in any way!

ASL club is one of the highlights of my week—-I’ve genuinely found such an amazing community and have so many great memories from the club! This will be my third year part of ASL club and my second year as outreach coordinator. I’m honored to continue serving in this role and giving back to such a wonderful group of people!

Not only is ASL Club an amazing group of people to hang out with, but we're all there to learn together. Everyone wants to get to know each other and learn ASL, and I always learn something new when I'm with the group.
