Brief History

2011-2022

The ASL club is now an active RSO (Registered Student Organization) whose members meet weekly, organize special events, volunteer at local events, and host an annual event, ASL Performance Night, in May.

2007-2010

While the club was not officially registered, students often spontaneously planned meetings or events, and in 2009 Elisha Terada got students together to do many things, took several pictures of outdoor activities and arranged an end of year party. He also organized several ASL students to observe interview candidates for a second open ASL Lecturer position for Fall of 2009. The club came up with a club name, "Quiet Riot".

2004-2007

Richard Ladner helped students form an ASL club so that a petition could be written to support the efforts to convince university administrators to consider offering ASL classes. Eventually, the ASL program was established in 2007 with Lance Forshay hired to start the program.
